A Morning at the Salon

This morning I had a hair appointment at 9am with Lisa for the first time. (I have found myself a new hair stylist...yeah!!) I found her at my best friends' relative's salon one day when I was trying to get Brady's haircut. Brady has been to so many hair salons and nobody could get his haircut right until Lisa. She does such a great job on his hair. So, last weekend when I took the kids in to her to get their haircut, I decided to make an appointment for me too.

There is a little play area in the back (in Lisa's area) that they always like to play in when they go to get their haircut, so it was perfect. I could bring the kids with me and not have to take a vacation day from work to get my haircut! :) Jason has been working such crazy long hours and on the weekend, so I was so excited that 1) I found a new great stylist and 2) that I could bring the kids with me and they could play in the playroom...no more waiting until forever to get my haircut and having to take a vacation day to do it!!

I should have known that my curious Brady would be bored with the playroom after a short while. The salon was not very busy when we got there, so he was talking with Ashley, the other stylist, asking lots of questions about the hair dryers that people sit under, the "pumpers" on the chairs, and the sink that washes the hair.

In the two hours that I was there, he managed to learn how to run all of the stylists' "equipment"...turning the hair dryers on and off...(little did we know that he would actually be sitting under one a little later ;)), pumping the chairs up and down, and running the sink.

Lisa's area is in the back, so I wasn't able to see his every move, which can be quite nerve racking with him...because he is soooooooo curious about stuff and can get "into" things.

My dad used to call me Curious Kelli, so I guess Brady's curiosity about things must come from me. He has inherited the name...I call him Curious Brady.

Anyway, at one point when I was getting my hair done, I heard Brady tell one lady that was getting her hair done, "I pumped you up." I just started busting up laughing...what was that lady thinking of being pumped by a 3 year old??? Then, he was turning on the hair dryers and sitting under them, etc.... He was just having a good old time; Anabelle was just being a little Angel playing in the playroom....THEN...Brady had a little accident!

All of a sudden, I heard a noise and then heard Brady just burst into tears. I jumped up out of the chair with my foils in to see what had happened. He was playing with the sink and turned it on with forgetting to pull the little showerhead thing out and point it down into the sink. Water shot out EVERYWHERE!!! It was all over the floor, ceiling, and all over Brady. He was so scared at what had happened. We put him under the hair dryer to dry out a little and then ended up putting his sweatshirt into the dryer at the salon. I was just sooooo glad that a customer wasn't standing in the path and didn't get soaked....thank goodness!! How embarassing would that have been?!?!

It was an eventful morning that we will not forget soon. I'm just happy that the next time we go there, he won't be so curious about how everything works since he already had the "trial run" on everything today. ;)

The girls at the salon were great, and it helped that I know them all personally too! :) Thanks girls for being such good sports with my kiddos this morning and helping out! :) We got some good laughs!

P.S....almost forgot to mention that when my hair was done, Brady had to go "poopie" and plugged their toilet up! Thanks for plunging Stace! ;)

Off to the Rodeo

Last weekend, Jason and I took the kids to the rodeo. It was a lot of fun and the kids loved it! This event was actually taped will be aired in a couple of weeks on Spike. This was the final rodeo to see which toughest cowboy won the ranch! There were eight cowboys in the competition, and they had a lot of rounds on their horses and bulls to see who did the best in the 8 second ride. My last picture was the only one that I got of a "ride" in progress.

During the rodeo, they had little kids around probably around 5 years old ride on the sheep. They only lasted about one second and fell off. Then, there was a dog that they had out there to round up the sheep, and there was a little monkey riding the dog. At first, I thought it was a pretend monkey, but it was actually a real one...you can see it in my pics below!

After the rodeo was over, we stayed for the Whiskey Falls and Tracy Lawrence concert. We had a lot of fun.

Jason bought the kids each a cowboy hat. They were $35 a piece...ridiculous!!! Jason met up with a buddy of his there, Donnie, and the kids got a kick out of him. He is crazy!!

Here are some pics...

Disney On Ice

At the end of January, Nicole and I took the kids to see Disney on Ice. We all had a great time, and thanks to Nicole we had wonderful seats!! The kids were spoiled and got to buy two toys each. Anabelle picked out a Little Mermaid necklace and a pink princess light up spinning toy. Brady picked out a sword and a dragon light up spinning toy. There were different places to get their picture taken. We stopped by the Minnie and Mickey Mouse photo spot. Anabelle wanted me to get in the picture with her and Brady, so me and the kids got our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. It turned out really cute and looks really good in the magnetic frame that came with it...a cute little addition to my office! :)

There were four themes that were played out...Cars, Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Tinkerbelle. Brady was scared of Ursula and started crying when she came out on the ice...but got over it very soon :)

Here are some pics....we'll be back to see another Disney on Ice in September...

Waiting to get in

Almost show time!

Let the fun begin!

A Day in the City

Every year, my mom and stepdad like to take a trip downtown to look at all the decorated store windows, see the big Christmas tree, and to stop by the yummy popcorn store. The kids and I went along this year and so did Sharon and the girls. We had a fun time, and boy am I glad that the popcorn is gone because it is so addictingly good!!!!

Here's some pics from our fun filled day...

Our First Family Vacation

It has almost been two weeks now that we have been home from vacation. We took our first family vacation to Sanibel Island, Florida. We stayed at Casa Ybel, which was a really nice resort. We had an excellent time and wonderful weather. It was sunny and 80 everyday. I even got a tan! When we came home on the 21st, we were greeted with an ice storm that had just taken place a couple of days prior, and the day we got home it was 30 below zero with the windchill....talk about a HUGE difference!

We got to see and do a lot of different things. We saw a couple get married on the beach at our resort, and then the next day we saw a couple get engaged with a plane flying overhead that read "Claudia, Will You Marry Me?" at our resort. We collected lots of nice shells, saw beautiful sunsets, hung out at the pool, took a lot of walks on the different beaches, made sandcastles, visited the Shell Museum, took a tram tour at the Darling Wildlife Refuge, went to some really nice places to eat...my favorite was the Mucky Duck, had excellent shakes from "Cheeburger Cheeburger", saw an alligator at our resort, shopped the souveneir shops...It was a week of no work, no cooking, no laundry, no worries...one that we will NEVER forget!

The kids were ecstatic to get back home to all of their toys. I think they played with every single one of them when we got home. Brady was so excited that he shouted "I am so happy"! It was funny. We all had such a wonderful time on vacation...I am already looking to plan our next one!
